James Forrest Fields Jr., affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on December 24, 1943, to the late Forrest Fields and Hazel Anderson Fields.

Jimmy was a graduate of Wheeler County Schools and continued his education at Middle Georgia College and Georgia Southern College. He also proudly served as a member of the Georgia National Guard.

Jimmy began his working career with Oxford Industries in Alamo, where he worked in the manufacturing of men’s and boys’ shirts. Through hard work and dedication, he quickly advanced to plant manager and worked at the company’s plants in both Alamo and Dublin. Afterward, Jimmy owned and operated Fields Men’s Shop in McRae for 15 years, where he sold quality men’s clothing and served the community through his business. He later returned to the garment industry, serving as plant manager at facilities in Dublin and Vidalia before starting a shirt plant in Soperton that produced military clothing. He served as operations manager there for 20 years, building a long and successful career in the clothing manufacturing industry. Jimmy was also dedicated to serving his community. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in McRae and was a member of the McRae City Council for 10 years. He also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for many years, sharing his time and love of the game with young people in the community.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Evans Fields of McRae, Georgia, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Chad Fields of McRae; his brother, Keith Fields of Dublin; and his parents, Forrest and Hazel Fields of Alamo.

Jimmy's life was marked by hard work, dedication, and service to his family, church and community. The memories he created, the lives he touched, and the friendships he formed will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
