Services for William Melvin Mathis of Alamo will be held Thursday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home with interment at Alamo City Cemetery in Alamo. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4 at the funeral home. The Rev. Mike Smith will officiate.

Mr. Mathis, age 62, passed away at his residence on December 2, 2013. He was the son of the late Clark and Erline Shipp Mathis.

He was a roofer.

Survivors include 5 sons, William C. (Tina) Mathis of Quinton, Al., Jimmy D. (L.E.) Mathis of Quinton, Al., Terry L. (Melissa Ann) Mathis of Alamo, Michael J. Mathis of Empire, Al., and Clark B. Mathis of La.; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Henry Mathis of Alamo; 1 sister, Frances Darlene Spoon of Alamo.
