Obituary

Wanda Marie Smith

Friday, February 3, 1950 – Wednesday, September 10, 2025

Wanda Marie Smith, age 75, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love in her community, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Conyers, Georgia. Born in McRae, Georgia, Wanda's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and the simple joys that make a life well-lived.

Graveside Services will be held at Telfair Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. BL Horne officiating. The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 6 PM – 8 PM.

Wanda was the loving mother of Kim Stinson (Lynn) and Kory Smith (Crissy), both of McRae. She was a doting grandmother to Kade Stinson (Sarah), Kimberlyn Stinson, Kyler Stinson, Kaylee Smith, Konner Smith, and Maryee Grace Selph. Her joy was multiplied with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Kambry Garner. She is also survived by her brother, Garry Spires (Elaine) of McRae, and her sister, Myra Lowe (William) of Conyers. Wanda was born to the late George Ross Spires and Bertha Mae (Lucy) Spires and was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Smith, parents, George and Lucy Spires, and grandchildren Karlee, Kennadee, Kolton, and Kooper Smith.

Wanda's role as a homemaker was more than a job; it was her calling. Her love for her home was matched by her passion for keeping it pristine. Wanda found joy in cleaning house, a task she approached with the same enthusiasm and care she devoted to every aspect of her life.

Wanda's passions extended beyond the walls of her home. She was an avid lover of daylilies, finding beauty and tranquility in their vibrant blooms. Her affection for dogs, especially Chihuahuas, was well-known, and she cherished the companionship and joy they brought into her life. Shopping was another pleasure of hers, a pastime through which she expressed her love for family, always seeking out the perfect gifts to bring them happiness.

Wanda was the last surviving charter member of Southside Baptist Church, established in 1961. Her unwavering faith and dedication to the church community were sources of inspiration and comfort to many. Her involvement and service within the church were reflections of her deep belief in kindness and charity.

Wanda's legacy is one of love, care, and the importance of family. Her life was a beautiful patchwork of moments shared, lessons taught, and kindness spread. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Wanda Marie Smith's memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of her loved ones, much like the daylilies she so adored.

In loving memory of Wanda Marie Smith, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Southside Baptist Church General Fund or Gideons International in her name.
