Walter Rivers White

Walter Rivers White, 92 of McRae, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Fairview Park Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Logue White and parents, Wilmer and Hester B. White.

Mr. White was a United States Marine during the Korean War. He and his wife operated the Gene Theater in McRae for many years. He spent several years working at the Wallace Adams Golf Course and retired at 62. After retirement, he then went to work for the Telfair County School System driving a school bus for 17 years. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.

Mr. White is survived by his daughters, Debbie White of McRae and Donna (Gary) Hickman of McRae; grandchildren, Chance Durrence of McRae and Lance Hickman of McRae.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 2 P.M. – 3 P.M. in the Chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. The funeral service will then follow at 3 P.M in the Chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. Pastor Rick Brown will officiate.
