Services for Thomas Edison Purvis of Helena will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at the New Bethel Baptist Church and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Darrell Colter and the Rev. Donnie Melton will officiate.
Mr. Purvis, age 81, passed away on March 5, 2014 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. He was the son of the late Jerry Tolbert and Madonna Dennis Purvis and the widower of Effie Lee Dykes Purvis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Homer Purvis.
He was a member and a Deacon of the New Bethel Baptist Church and had retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his son, Bruce (Sandy) Purvis; 3 daughters, Brenda Yawn, Connie (Jimmy) Grimes, Donna (Russell) Nobles all of Helena; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Lillian Long of Eastman; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at the funeral home.
