Scott McDonald Murdaugh Sr. went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the age of 65. Scott’s journey started in McRae where humble beginnings, countless friendships, and memories were made over the decades in a community he plainly called his home.

Friends and family are invited to honor his life at a memorial service that will be held at McRae Methodist Church on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Jimbo Dominey officiating. Interment will follow at Telfair Memorial Gardens.

Scott spent his childhood and early adulthood in McRae, Georgia working at Tommy Brown’s, and James Ray Ford, before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida where he raised his family, was a licensed Realtor, and operated his own business “Scott’s Floor Care” for many years.

We will remember him as a man who never met a stranger, never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, and could light up a dark room on any occasion. He had a natural gift at making people laugh and was known to enjoy life to its fullest. As a life-long pet lover, Scott rescued many cats and dogs whom he considered family members.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Leonard Lamar Murdaugh, Jr. and Faye (McDonald) Murdaugh and his brother Randolph “Randy” Murdaugh.

Mr. Murdaugh leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved sons, Scott Murdaugh, Jr. (Stephanie), Josiah Murdaugh, and Brandon Murdaugh (Alice), his grandchildren, Olivia and Benjamin, and several nieces and nephews.
