Services for Sara H. Owens of Helena will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28 at New Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27 at the funeral home.

The Rev. Darrell Colter and the Rev. Dahl McDermitt will officiate.

Mrs. Owens, 80, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at her residence in Helena. She was the daughter of the late John and Willie Harrell Haynes and the widow of Gordon Owens.

She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, former member of Gideon Auxiliary and had retired from the Telfair County Hospital as a LPN.

She was preceded in death by a son, Garry Owens and a grandson, Gordon Reed Dykes.

Survivors include two daughters: Ellene (Johnny) Dykes and Karen (Gary) Lann of Helena; 5 grandchildren, Joey Dykes, Ned Dykes, Roxanne Livingston of Helena, Chris Walls of Savannah and Amy Walls of McRae; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Harold Haynes of Rhine.
