Prather H. Pitts, 95, of Helena, died on Friday, June 16, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Pitts was married to Mattie McSwain Pitts and was the son of the late Sidney and Bessie Mae Weeks Pitts.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II. During his honorable service, he was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Mr. Pitts was a mechanic before retiring.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, June 18 in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services in the chapel. Interment will follow the services in the Helena City Cemetery.

Mr. Jonathan Seay will officiate.

C.J. Simmons, Jake Spires, Blake Dover, Ashley McLaughlin, Chris McLaughlin and Mac Coleman will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Pitts of Helena; 2 children, Sylvia (Jerry) Powell of Glenwood, Ronnie (Debra) Pitts of Brunswick; 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Faye Coody of Toby Hanna, PA., and Laverne Davis of Gladstone, VA; 2 half-brothers, Ted McLaughlin of Helena and Mike McLaughlin of Dublin; several nieces and nephews.
