Norwood Mann Davidson

Friday, August 11, 1972 – Saturday, January 3, 2026

Norwood Mann Davidson, a cherished brother, uncle, minister, and faithful friend passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on January 3rd, 2026, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 11, 1972, to the late Lamar and Jane Mann Davidson, Norwood spent most of his life in his hometown of McRae, Georgia. A 1990 graduate of Telfair County High School, Norwood was a proud Trojan Alumni and often spoke fondly of his memories growing up in McRae. Norwood ran his beloved Norwood's Courtyard antique store in downtown McRae in the early to mid 2000's, where he curated an impressive selection of collectible items. He later began a career at the Telfair County Public Library, where he retired as head librarian. Norwood loved the Lord and was always glad to share his faith with others. He was called into the ministry in 2009 and began serving as lay minister of the McRae Presbyterian Church, where he served for 16 years until his health made him unable.

Norwood's love for his family and the community was unparalleled. He will be remembered for his incredible wealth of knowledge on the history of Telfair County, and he enjoyed discussing history with anyone who would listen. Norwood never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He truly made everyone in his presence feel special with his constant smile and genuine words. In his spare time, he was passionate about searching for and collecting antiques and overseeing local estate sales. Above all, being an uncle to his three nieces was the light of his life. He was so proud of them and always cherished time spent with his girls.

Norwood leaves behind a brother, Sim Davidson, and sister-in-law, Andrea, both of McRae, nieces, Emily Weeks (Colin) of Huntsville, Alabama, Merritt Rush (Ross) of Hazlehurst, and Millie Davidson of McRae, special friends Earl and Arlene Merritt of McRae, as well as his beloved cat Bea, and many other extended family members and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at McRae Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 6 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Jimbo Dominey, Rev. Sam Quick and Rev. Steve Pilkinton will officiate. Interment will follow afterwards in Oak Grove Cemetery in McRae.
