Mary Lois Yancey

With deep love and profound appreciation for a life well lived, we honor the legacy of Mary Lois Hart Yancey, who at 91 years old leaves behind a remarkable imprint on generations of family, friends, and her community. Ma, as she was affectionately known to everyone who knew her, was born October 28, 1934, in Wilcox County, and passed away peacefully June 20, 2026, at her favorite place, her home in Rhine, Georgia.
Funeral Services will be held at Oak Grove Community Church on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bobby Jo Ryals officiating, assisted by Rev. Granton Helms. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rhine, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home in McRae on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Ma's love for her family was only matched by her passion for cooking and feeding anyone who came through her door. She was the heart of every gathering, the keeper of the stories, and the quiet strength that held generations together. Gathering at her house for every special occasion was something she insisted on carrying out year after year as long as she could. Before anyone would fix a plate, Ma would always remind everyone how thankful she was they were there and how proud she was of them all. Her familial legacy is one of unwavering love, selfless devotion, and a family forever strengthened by the warmth and care she gave so freely.
Ma spent many years side by side with her husband tending the farm, caring for children in the community, sitting with others, and cooking many, many, meals. She was a hard worker who enjoyed taking care of others. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly and made sure they were well looked after. She enjoyed watching game shows and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Todd" Yancey, her son, Jimmy Ray Yancey, and her parents Anna Ledford Harrt and Lenton Price Hart.
She is survived by her children, Ann Yawn (Grady) of Chauncey, Deb McDuffie (Don) of McRae, and Tony Yancey (Cindy) of Rhine, and daughter-in-law, Ginger Yancey Horne; her grandchildren, Michael Horton (Kim), Kevin Yancey (Stacey), Tonya Puckett (Chad), Heather Fussell, Chris Ussery, Brian Kirkland (Anna), Todd Yancey (Brandy); sixteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Billy Hart (Ann) of Lake City, Florida, Linda Fuller of Macon, Gerald Hart (Linda) of Rochelle, Pat Craft of Lafayette, and numerous nieces and nephews.
