Martha Javine Sheffield Rogers

May 28, 1939 – November 5, 2023

Martha Javine Sheffield Rogers, 84, of Eastman, Georgia, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Martha was born on May 28, 1939 in Milan, Georgia to the late Quience and Mae Farmer Sheffield. She married the late Bob Rogers and moved to Eastman, Georgia. She retired from the Dodge County School System as a para-pro and bus driver, where she was given the affectionate name, "Pug" by one of her students. Martha was of the Baptist faith. Her life was spent loving her family, the Atlanta Braves, and all of Dodge County Sports, where you could find her keeping the score board at many basketball games or cheering on her teams from the sidelines. After retirement, you could find her sitting under the magnolia tree waiting for a visit.

Preceded in death by her husband and parents; siblings – Albert Sheffield, Ruby Burch, JS "Shippy" Sheffield, Ruth Dennis, Needham Sheffield, Clarance Sheffield, Razz Sheffield, Robert Sheffield, Willene Cobb, Wilmer Sheffield, and Mary Elizabeth Sheffield.

Martha is survived by her children – Mike (D'Lynn) Rogers, Freida Rogers, and Elaine Rogers, all of Eastman; Grandchildren – Danielle (Allison) Rogers of Hawkinsville, Mara Rogers, Dylan Rogers and Kaitlynn (Hugh) Rogers of Eastman; Great Grandchildren – Kaesen Hines of Eastman, Carter Dale Rogers of Danville, and Hunter Bassham of Eastman; Sister – Rossie (Carol Ray) Giddens of Eastman; Brother-in-law, Therrell Cobb; Sister-in-law, Denise Sheffield of Roberta and Regina Sheffield of Atlanta; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Martha will lie in state at her residence beginning November 6th, until her funeral service at her home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be at the Rogers Harrell cemetery on Fair Haven Church Rd. in Dodge County. Bro. Gerald Ryals and Bro. Gary Ryals will officiate.
