Marlene Marchant Dowdy, 87 of Helena died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in the McRae Manor Nursing Home, McRae.

Mrs. Dowdy was a member of Milan Baptist Church and retired from Roydon Wear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Dowdy Jr.; father and mother, John R & Molly Marchant; sisters, Hazel Williams, Irma Blount, Iris Berchtenbreiter; brothers, Dorsey Marchant, T B Marchant, Dudley Marchant, June Marchant and Norris Marchant.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Milan Baptist Church and interment will follow in the Milan City Cemetery.

The Rev. Aubrey Corbitt will officiate.

Survivors include, children, Ginger Horne (Keith) of Eastman, Gary Dowdy (Janice) of Vidalia; sister, Jacquline Long of Milan; sister-in-law, Mary Will Marchant; grandchildren, Kevin Yancey (Stacey), Tonya Puckett (Chad), Michael Dowdy, Greggory Dowdy (Melissa), Kimberly Dowdy, Jill Marie Cooper (Jeremy), Heather Widener (Terry), Lindsey Leaptrot; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; special care giver, Bylon Clay.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, September 2nd at the funeral home.
