Marie Holt Hunt, age 72, of McRae-Helena, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, in the chapel of Lowes Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimbo Dominey officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lowes Funeral Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Marie was the daughter of the late Jim Clyde Holt and Inona Brewer Holt Wilkes. She dedicated more than four decades of service to the Telfair County School System, where she served with pride and distinction as a Student Information Systems Specialist. Throughout her career, she was known for her commitment to education, her attention to detail, and her willingness to help others.
Marie was also a devoted member of McRae Methodist Church, where her faith found expression through service to others. As chair of the church's Outreach Committee, she helped lead and participate in numerous ministries, including the Prayer Blanket Ministry, Operation Turkey, and Young @ Heart. Her compassionate spirit, servant's heart, and unwavering dedication to her community touched countless lives.
She is survived by her son, Brian Hunt of Savannah; her sister, LaVerne Pharr of Marietta; her niece, Saiward Pharr Hromadka and husband, Jared, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and her two great-nieces, Margaret and Vivian Hromadka of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McRae Methodist Church Outreach Ministry, P.O. Box 8, McRae-Helena, GA 31055.
