Judy P. Hooks, age 78, of Lumber City, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia. She was born on November 20, 1947, in Lumber City, Georgia, to the late Roy and Alma Powell.

A graveside service will be held at Dodges Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Andy Brownley will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held at Lowes Funeral Home prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.

Judy's heart was always full when surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, Marvin Hooks, of Lumber City, and a nurturing mother to her children, Patricia Dinkins (Chuck) of Valdosta and Scott Hooks (Amanda) of Lumber City. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, sharing her wisdom and laughter with her grandchildren, Tyler Hooks of Brunswick, Carly Jones (Dusty) of Athens, Ansley Rothwell (Zack) of McRae, and Emily Dinkins of Valdosta. Judy's legacy continued to blossom with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Addie, Chloe, and Ellorie, who brought her immense joy. Judy also leaves behind her brother, Gilbert Powell of Lumber City, her sister, Edna Noah of Knoxville, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.

Judy's passion for education led her to a fulfilling career as a schoolteacher with the Telfair County Board of Education. She retired after decades of dedicated service, leaving behind a legacy of inspired students and grateful colleagues.

Judy lived a life full of purpose and love. As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she has left on our hearts and the community she so dearly loved. Her family, a testament to her nurturing spirit, will continue to honor her legacy by living out the values she championed throughout her remarkable life.

Judy P. Hooks, a true matriarch and educator, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
