Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Cheek, 91, of Rhine, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness.

Joe was a member of Rhine Baptist Church, a Deacon, noted woodworker and Master Carpenter. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee Cheek and L.E. Fergurson Cheek; sisters, Anna Ruth Yawn, Nettie Louise Ridgway; brother, Willie Lenis Cheek.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, March 22nd in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

The interment will follow in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Rev. Gary Carter will officiate.

Survivors include his wife, Cora O'Quinn Cheek of Rhine; son, Kevin Joe Cheek and daughter-in-law, Sonya Griffin Cheek of Lumber City; granddaughter, Kerri Joe Cheek of Lumber City; brother-in-law, Willard N. O'Quinn of Glenwood; sisters-in-law, Elise O. Fountain of Mt. Vernon, Eleene O. Davis of McDonough, Mae O Moncus of Ailey; a host of nieces and nephews.
