Johnny Ray Higingbotham

Johnny Ray Higingbotham, age 66, of McRae died on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, in McRae.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Buel and Nancy Batts Higingbotham; brothers, Tommy Higingbotham and Charles Higingbotham.

He was a member of McRae United Methodist Church, and served in the Church TV Ministry. Johnny was the City of Helena Fire Chief for 20 years and was Fire Chief with the Georgia Dept. of Corrections for 20 years. He was on the Telfair County School Board for 12 years. He was a active member of the McRae Helena City Council. He was a Telfair County Leisure Service member for many years and active in the TV Ministry at the McRae United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the McRae United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. Jason Dickerson and the Rev. Jimbo Dominey will officiate.

Survivors include his wife, Ann H. Higingbotham of McRae; children, Brandi (Michael) Seabolt of Helena, Wendy Higingbotham of Helena, Andy (Dana) Burress of Perry and Jodi (John) Robbins of Madison; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested, please make donations to the Building Fund, McRae United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, McRae, Georgia 31055.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 28 at the McRae United Methodist Church.
