John Odell Lowie

Sunday, March 19, 1944 – Thursday, April 24, 2025

John Odell Lowie, age 81, passed away on April 24, 2025, at his residence in Helena, Georgia. Born on March 19, 1944, in Leesburg, Florida, John's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his love for his work.

Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Ladon Connell officiating. Interment will be held at Helena City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

John is survived by his loving wife Sharon Lowie of Helena, who has been his partner in life's journey through every twist and turn. Together, they raised a family that includes their daughter Sherrie Collins (Jon) of Gilbert, South Carolina, and their son John Lowie (Marie) of Alamo. John's legacy continues through his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his playful spirit and the wisdom he imparted.

He is also survived by his brother Jim Lowie (Sharon) of Houston, Texas; his sisters, Brenda Garmon of Tampa, Florida, and Patricia Johns of Dublin. His extended family of several nieces and nephews will fondly recall his kindness and the joy he brought to family gatherings. John's beloved dog, Jill, was a constant companion and brought him much comfort and happiness.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Odell Lowie and Effie Simmons Lowie.

John was a respected self-employed auto mechanic, a career that allowed him to combine his passion for automobiles with his natural problem-solving abilities. He was of the Baptist faith.

John Odell Lowie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. As we say goodbye to John, we take comfort in knowing that his was a life filled with purpose and joy, and that his memory will be treasured forever.
