John Jackson Harrell
Friday, November 19, 1943 – Friday, January 2, 2026
John Jackson Harrell, age 82, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at Piedmont Healthcare in Snellville, Georgia. He was born on November 19, 1943, in Rhine, Georgia.
A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Reverend John Conley officiating. Interment will follow at Telfair Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held at the chapel one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
He began his academic journey at ABAC College, where he laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. His passion for the natural world led him to the University of Georgia, where he graduated with a degree in Forestry, a field he deeply cherished. John's thirst for knowledge did not end there; he furthered his education by obtaining an MBA from Valdosta College, equipping him with a diverse skill set that would serve him well throughout his career.
John's professional life was marked by a remarkable 40-year tenure at Georgia Power. His dedication to his work was evident to all who knew him, and his contributions to the company were both significant and enduring. In addition to his civilian career, John proudly served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. His service was characterized by the same loyalty and excellence that he brought to every aspect of his life.
Happily married for 61 years to his beloved wife, Linda Clements Harrell of Loganville, John was a devoted partner, sharing a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their loving partnership was a cornerstone of their family, providing a strong foundation for their daughters, Jonda Williams (Floyd) and Amanda Headlee (Josh), both of Loganville. John's role as a grandfather to Savannah Headlee was one of his greatest joys. He cherished every moment spent with her and took great pride in her accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Harrell and Nealy Ray Harrell.
As we bid farewell to John Jackson Harrell, we celebrate a life well-lived. His memory will be held in the hearts of those he touched. John's departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but the memories he created with his family and friends will forever be cherished.
