Joann Yawn

Joann Gann Yawn, age 88, of Alamo, Georgia, passed away on May 14, 2024 after an extended illness. She was born on August 1, 1935, in Danridge, Tennessee, to the late Lester and Minnie Strange Gann.

Joann was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in caring for her family. She was a member of Helena Baptist Church, where she found comfort and community.

In her free time, Joann indulged in her passions for sewing, crocheting, fishing, and cultivating beautiful flowers. Her creativity and love for nature brought happiness to those around her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Henry "Buckshot" Yawn, a grandson, Elliott White, son-in-law, Garland White; parents, Lester and Minnie Strange Gann, sisters, Leatrice Keck, Gladys Carey, brothers, M.C. Gann, Roy Gann and Frank Gann.

She is survived by her loving children: Dennis Yawn of Douglas; Marty White of Alamo; Marijo (Glynn) Webb of Raeford, NC; Jane (Charles) McVey of Cordele; David (Cindy) Yawn and James (Stacey) Yawn of McRae. Joann was a cherished grandmother to Michael Yawn, Lori Connell, Jereme Yawn, Vanessa Weaver, Missy Webb, Andy Webb, Wesley McVey, Matthew McVey, Ashley Briley, Colby Yawn, Gavin Yawn, and Emily Yawn. She also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, Lester Eugene Gann of Knoxville, TN.

A visitation will be held at Trinity Cemetery from 2 PM - 3 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024. Graveside services will immediately follow at 3 PM at the cemetery. Rev. James Hammock will officiate.
