Jimmy Yawn of Clarksville, TN, and loving father to Chris, Michele, Robin, and Jimmy Cole went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Jimmy was born on June 20, 1941 in Milan, Georgia to the late Walter Thomas and Rosa Mae Lowery Yawn. He attended school in Wheeler County. After graduating, he completed business school in Perry. Jimmy was a self-employed brick mason and contractor for eighteen years. Later, he managed Gulf Oil plant for sixteen years.
While living in McRae, Jimmy was an active member and past president of both, McRae Jaycees and McRae Lions Club. He served in these organizations for many years and maintained lifelong friendships he acquired during this time.
Later on, Jimmy moved to Clarksville, TN, where two children, his sister, and their families resided. In Clarksville, he became affectionately known to all who met him as "Uncle Jimmy". He was employed with Queen City Metals until retirement. During retirement, he very much enjoyed the lake life and fishing whenever possible.
Along with his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Yawn and sister, Barbara Purvis.
Left to cherish his memories are his children; Chris (Jennifer) Yawn of Forsyth, Michele Yawn Williams and Robin (Charles) Hutto of McRae, and Jimmy Cole (Lisa) Yawn of Alamo, his former wife and mother of his children, Faye Cross Yawn of McRae; Sister-Jeanette Yawn of Helena; grandchildren; Brandon (Vivian) Williams and Lisa Williams of Clarksville, TN, Allison (Stacy) Bryant and Megan (Mike) Glisson of Forsyth, Dylan Yawn, Haley (Cameron) Stead and Taylor (Brett) Adkins of Clarksville, TN; great grandchildren; Thomas, Blake, Huxley, Lively, Georgia, Kayden, Keeley, Dawson, Lawson, Colson and a great grandson due in February. Other survivors include many special nieces in both Clarkesville, TN and McRae as well as a special nephew in Clarksville, TN.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lowes Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to the service.
