Jeanette Yawn, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and love for family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. with Jimmy Cole Yawn officiating. Interment will be private.
Born on September 22, 1938, in Milan, Georgia, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas Yawn and Rosa Mae Lowery Yawn of Helena, Georgia. She grew up in a close-knit community where she developed a love for sports and quickly became known throughout her school years for her exceptional basketball skills. Her athletic ability, competitive spirit, and teamwork earned the admiration of classmates and friends alike.
Jeanette spent much of her working life in the textile industry. She worked for Roydon Wear until its closure and later continued her career with AYP, where she remained employed until her retirement. She was respected for her strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Yawn of Letohatchee, Alabama, Jimmy Yawn of Clarksville, Tennessee, her sister, Bobbie Yawn Purvis (Clyde) of Clarksville, Tennessee and her niece, Donna Yawn of Letohatchee, Alabama.
Jeanette is survived by 9 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and great nephews, and 24 great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Yawn of Letohatchee, Alabama and Faye Yawn of McRae, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Jeanette will be remembered for her kind heart, independent nature, love of sports, and the pride she took in her family.
