James Herschel Selph

Helena-Services for James Herschel Selph of Helena will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10 in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home with interment in the Little Rock Cemetery.

Mr. Selph, 86, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. He was the son of the late John Henry and Cassie Locke Selph of Wheeler County and was married to Linda Grimes Selph of Helena.

Mr. Selph was a member of the Community Church of God and had retired from the City of McRae with 25 years of loyal service. He was an Ordained Deacon at Mt. Carmel Holiness Baptist Church for 46 years.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Grimes Selph of Helena; one son, Darrell (Dale) Selph of Helena; two stepchildren, Tillie (Jeff) Jackson of Vidalia and Laney Nelms of Savannah; grandchildren, Jessica Cannon of Eastman; step-grandchildren, Hayley Jackson and Jarrett Jackson of Vidalia; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Bass and Trey Cannon; one sister, Eugene Reynolds of McRae; nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Community Hospice House, 904 Mt. Vernon Rd., Vidalia, Georgia 30474 or to the American Cancer Society, % Ms. Patsy D. House, 387 Walter Barrett Rd., McRae, Georgia 31055.
