James L. Roberson of Columbus, formerly of McRae, passed away of Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Columbus.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16 in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home in Helena. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The Rev. Ralph Horne will officiate.

James, age 83, had served in the Korean War. He had retired from the Crown Gas Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen T. and Epsie Roberson; 4 brothers, Ernest Roberson, Howard Roberson, Dudley Roberson and Curtis Roberson.

Survivors include 3 children, Terry L. Roberson, Wendell Roberson and Sarah (Alan) Champion all of Columbus; 2 step children, Amy Culpepper of Columbus and Daniel Culpepper of Folly Beach, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Allen T. Roberson of Warner Robins and Gordon (Sherry) Roberson of Macon; nieces and nephews.
