James "Jimmy" Leon Kirkland

James "Jimmy" Leon Kirkland, 69 of Milan, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Navicent Health. He is preceded in death by his parents James Kirkland and Mary Morris Kirkland and son, Lee Kirkland.

Mr. Kirkland was born in Hazlehurst. He was retired from the Robins Air Force Base as a Sheet-Metal Scheduler. Mr. Kirkland was a Army Veteran and the Mayor of Milan for 25 years.

Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife, Shirley Kirkland of Milan; Daughter, Kristi (Bill) Greer of Unadilla; Daughter-In-Law, Stephanie Kirkland of Milan; Grandchildren, Sarah Beth Kirkland of Milan, Ansley Greer of Unadilla, Ava Greer of Unadilla and Will Greer of Unadilla; also, brother and sisters, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Lowe's Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 3 P.M. at the Milan Baptist Church with burial at Milan City Cemetery. Rev Aubrey Corbitt and Rev. Joey Bohannon will officiate.

The family will be accepting flowers but ask for donations to be made to the Milan Fire Department.

It is respectfully asked that all in attendance wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
