Obituary

Iris Katherine Stadel

Thursday, December 27, 1956 –  Friday, January 10, 2025

Iris Katherine Stadel, 68, of McRae, Georgia a cherished soul known for her boundless generosity and loving spirit, passed away on January 10, 2025, at her residence in McRae, Georgia. She was born on December 27, 1956, in Charlotte, Michigan to the late Bohumil Zakora and Theo Elizabeth Hyatt Zakora. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gloyd Fredrick Stadel, II.

Professionally, Iris was a talented landscaper who carved her path as a self-employed individual, a testament to her independent spirit and love for the earth.

Beyond her work, Iris was known as a beacon of kindness, often referred to as a giver, not a taker. Her big heart extended beyond her human connections, as she had an extraordinary love for animals. Iris was a savior to many creatures, rescuing animals in need, and was known to bottle-feed any that required her tender care. Her compassion knew no bounds, and her home was a sanctuary for all living things.

Iris was the beloved matriarch of a family that adored her immensely. She is survived by her devoted children, Amy O'Day (Chandler Smith) of McRae, and Gloyd Stadel (Aleta) of Arcadia, Florida. Her legacy further blooms through her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Iris's life was filled with the laughter and love of numerous other family members and friends, all of whom found a friend in her.

Those who knew Iris, especially her grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi, recognized her as the epitome of a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her nurturing nature, kindheartedness, and warm presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Iris Katherine Stadel's life was a testament to the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.

Ms. Stadel was memorialized by cremation. Services will be private.
