George Allen Sirmans
George Allen Sirmans, age 89, of Jacksonville, Georgia, formerly of Fargo, Georgia, died on Sunday, January 24th, 2021 at his residence.
George was a Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was the Chairman of the Clinch County Commissioners for 16 years and was the founder of the Bridges of Hope, which now has 5 Centers in various parts of South Georgia. He has been one of Alcoholics Anonymous most notable speakers for over 44 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jackie Gilley Sirmans; a son, George Allen Sirmans II; parents, Lott Sirmans and Emma Allen Sirmans; 2 brothers, Theo Sirmans and Hammond Sirmans.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Jo Sirmans of Jacksonville, Ga.; 4 daughters, Nancy (Steve) Funderburk of Blackshear, Ga., Barbara (Allen) Stormant of Manila, Ak, Vicky (Matt) Harper of Valdosta, Ga., Gilley (Tod) Spaude of Bushnell, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with friends and family officiating.
