He will be remembered with love for the life he built and for the place he held in the hearts of those closest to him.

Gary Lawford Harris, 76, of McRae, Georgia died on September 16, 2026, at McRae Manor Nursing Home. Born on February 15, 1950, Gary lived a life rooted in hard work and devotion to those he loved. He was self-employed as a truck driver, a calling that reflected his independence, steady determination, and willingness to do whatever was needed for his family. He will be remembered with love for the life he built and for the place he held in the hearts of those closest to him.

Memorial Services will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. with Elder Spencer Fussell officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. at the Chapel.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon Harris of McRae, who shared his life and love. He also leaves behind his daughter, Lisa Ussery (Tracy) of McRae, and his son, Elton Harris (Kelly) of Milan. His memory will continue to live on in his grandchildren, Caleb Ussery (Madison); John Cale Ussery (Autumn); Dalton Peyton; Presley Harris (Jaminson); Colt Harris; and Ella Harris. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Adaline Ussery, Jaxon Ussery, Lenny Ussery, and Tab Ussery, each of whom added another generation of love to his family. He is also survived by his brothers, Alan Harris and Andy Harris, both of Milan; his sisters, Darla Rice of Louisville, Kentucky; and Joyce Byrns (Bord) of Mill Town, Indiana. Each held a meaningful place in his family circle and in the story of his life.

Gary was preceded in death by his son, Ben Harris; his father, Andrew Leo Harris, Sr.; his mother, Cleda Foley; his stepmother, Helen Harris and his son-in-law, David Ussery. Their memories remained part of his life and are now joined with his in lasting remembrance.

Though his journey here on earth has ended, Gary will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Alan Harris, Erica Horne, Ashley Mae White, Cortney Graham, and Karen Beck for their unwavering support and kindness. Special thanks also to the dedicated staff at McRae Manor Nursing Home and Remarkable Hospice for the exceptional care, comfort and dignity they provided during this difficult time.
