Obituary

Services for Essie Mae Knight Yawn of Milan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6 at the Rockwell Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 at the funeral home.

The Rev. Steve Newton and the Rev. Hugh Smith will officiate.

Ms. Yawn, 93, passed away on June 3, 2013 at the Dodge County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lee and Lina Spires Knight and was the widow of John Thomas (J.T.) Yawn.

She was the oldest member of Rockwell Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Laverne (Robert) Calhoun of Rhine, Thomas (Eleanor) Yawn of Homerville, Ronald C. Yawn of Milan and Wayne S. (Barbara) Yawn of Nashville; six grandchildren, Shonda (Travis) Chamblis of Homerville, Kristie Calhoun of Quitman, Julie Musgrove of Nashville, Robert Lee (Yuko) Calhoun of Okinawa, Japan, Stephen Yawn of Nashville and John Yawn of Nashville; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
