Mrs. Elizabeth Kinnett Spires, 85, of McRae died Monday, December 15, 2014, at McRae Manor Nursing Home. She was born on March 11, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Steve and Mamie Wells Kinnett. She was a homemaker and owner of Spires Grocery and Tackle Shop for 45 years. She was a member of Midway Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Alex (Bill) Spires, her beloved son, Joel Wayne Spires, brother, Daniel Kinnett, and sister, Attys Spires. Survivors include one son, Bill (Teresa) Spires, Jr. of Marland, Oklahoma; two daughters, Christy (Charles) Mitchell of Jekyll Island, Georgia, and Marsha (Wayne) White of McRae, Georgia; grandchildren, Hope Owens (Lerone), Joel Spires, Stephen Spires, Margaret Mitchell, William Mitchell, Christa (Bradford) Robbins, Ginger (Mark) Spires, Rachel Spires, David Spires; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Lowe's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. Burial will be at Midway United Church Cemetery. Reverend Alvin Lewis will officiate.
