Dr. William Pryor Connell Jr., 69, of McRae, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, August 16, 2015.

He was at his home surrounded by his family and many friends.

Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18 at the McRae First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will follow in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.

Dr. William Perry and the Rev. Todd Crosby will officiate.

He was married to Alena Hinely Connell and was the son of the late William Pryor and Willie Ruth Clark Connell Sr.

Dr. Connell had been the pastor of McRae First Baptist for 21 years, Douglas First Baptist for 5 years, Dawson Street Baptist in Thomasville for 3 years and Mt. Galilee Baptist Church for 3 years. He was a member of Mt. Galilee Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alena Connell of McRae; 2 children, Pryor (Trenda) Connell of Pelham and Angelyn (Jeff) McGhee of McRae; 5 grandchildren, Ansley Connell, Josh Connell, Caroline McGhee, Katie Beth McGhee and Conner McGhee; 2 great-grandchildren, Chloe Radney and Cate Gillis; 1 brother, Winston Connell of Thomasville; 1 sister, Joyce Kemp of Dublin; and many friends.

Flowers will be accepted or donations made be given to the McRae First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 484, McRae, Georgia 31055.
