Dorothy Mae Powell, age 89, of Fitzgerald, formerly of Helena, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016, in Tifton.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Henry Powell and parents, Hugh A. and Annie Mae Green Rogers; sisters, Ruby Inez Taylor and Mary Ellen Phillips.

She was a member of Crossview Baptist Church in Fitzgerald and a former member of Helena Baptist Church.

She had retired as a seamstress with Roydon Wear in McRae.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 15 in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. Services will follow after visitation on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. Earl Perry will officiate. Lucy Schell will share a celebration of her life.

Survivors include 1 son, Tony (Patricia) Powell; 2 granddaughters, Christy (Brian) Cobb, Melissa (Jason) Cleghorn; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexis "Lexi" Madison Cobb and Kip Powell Cleghorn all of Fitzgerald.
