Carl Wayne Smith

Carl Wayne Smith, 73, of Lumber City, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Jeff Davis Hospital in Hazlehurst.

He was born on June 24, 1950 in Hazlehurst, Georgia. He worked for many years in materials management of large construction companies. Most of the jobs he was involved with included those in the nuclear power industry, pulp and paper industry and from time to time, unusual bridge design projects. In his free time, he loved music, reading, and could spend hours with maps.

Carl was a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maynard McL Barlow and Jaunita Clark Barlow and his brother, Raymond Gary Barlow.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vickie Powell Smith of Lumber City; his brother, Johnny C. Barlow; sister, Debra B. (Richard) Walker and Renee B. (Joey) O'Neal. He is also survived by his uncle, aunt and numerous nieces and nephews.
