Brenda Joann Shepard

Brenda Joann Shepard, age 75, passed away peacefully at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman, Georgia. She was born on April 25,1950 in Dodge County Georgia to the late Alvin Jackson and Dorothy Poole Jackson.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Larry Shepard and Dennis Leo Dykes, Sr.

The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19 from 6 PM to 8 PM.  Funerals Service will be held Friday, June 20 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Fowler and Rev. Mark Davidson officiating.  Interment will be at Scotland City Cemetery.

Brenda is survived by her children, Dennis Dykes, Jr. of Scotland, Rocky (Cyndi) Dykes of Spotsylvania, VA, Kim (Terry) Hilliard of Rhine and Josh (Frances) Shepard of Scotland.  Grandchildren; Jana (Shawn) Murray, Madison Dykes, John Dykes, Jessica (David) Jones, Ben Dykes, Sandy (Nathan) Wood, Danny (Candace) Brown, Kane (Bethany) Hilliard, Brock Shepard, Jada Shepard and eighteen great-grandchildren. Siblings; Rickey Jackson of South Carolina and Sandra Cooksey of Crawford County, Georgia.

Brenda's professional life was marked by her caring and compassionate nature for others.  She served her community for over 30 years as a paramedic with the Telfair County EMS. She was dedicated and passionate about cooking for her friends and family. She was affectionately known as Ma Brenda by all who loved her. She was a member of Scotland Baptist Church.

As we bid farewell to Ma Brenda, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart generously given, and a legacy that will endure through the lives of her family and the many lives she touched.
