Arthur Arnold Horton
Arthur Arnold Horton, 67, of Alamo, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Serenity Hospice in Dublin.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, in the chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the chapel. The burial will be private, family only.
Arnold was the son of the late Arthur and Ruby Webb Horton and was married to Mary Jane Smith Horton.
He was a member of the Alamo United Methodist Church. He received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1971 from Georgia Tech. Arnold began working at Little Ocmulgee Membership Corp. in 1983 and retired in 2011 as General Manager. He served as Chairman of the Georgia Energy Cooperative Power Supply Committee and on various other state- wide EMC Committees. He served as chairman of the Board of the Wheeler Co. Development Authority for 6 + years. He also served as the chairman of the Telfair/Wheeler Airport Authority. In addition, he served on the Wheeler Co. Board of Education, Heart of GA College Foundation, Telfair Co. Exchange Club, founding President 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Smith Horton of Alamo; 3 sisters, Elizabeth Horton Jones of Jacksonville, Wanda Horton Harrell of Dublin, Jennifer (Kenny) Horton Van Ness of Dublin; brother, Blynn Horton of McRae; 3 step-children, Chris (Sherry) McDonald of Perry, Matt (Jennifer) McDonald of Alamo and Betsy (Brad) McDonald of Scotland; step grandchildren, Kristin McDonald, Rhyan McDonald and Delaney Rish; aunt, Judy (Joe) Padgett of Jacksonville; special grand nephew, Walker (Spook) Allen; several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends.
Arnold had requested no flowers. Your thoughtfulness and cooperation are greatly appreciated. If you wish to honor Arnold in the way he wanted, please send donations to one of the following: M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, Methodist Children's Home in Macon, Serenity Hospice, Dublin, Georgia or St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.
