Anthony "Andy" Benny Dykes, a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence in McRae, Georgia, on August 19, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on November 4, 1971, in McRae, Andy was a lifelong resident of the community he adored and served with dedication.

Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Friday, August 22 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Darrell Barlow and Rev. Kenneth White officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21 from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Dykes of McRae; his children, Michael Dykes (Christy) of Milan, Amanda Jackson (Cody) of McRae, and Sarah Dykes of McRae; his four grandchildren, Sawyer Dykes, Bella Melvin, Kelsie Dykes, and Lane Jackson, who brought him immeasurable joy; his brother, Danny Dykes (Susan) of Pearson; and his sister, Amy Dykes (Elijah) of Soperton. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Benny Dykes and Martha Horton Dykes.

For many years, Andy served as the Public Works Director for the cities of McRae and Lumber City. Andy's professional legacy is one of tireless service and unwavering dedication to the well-being of his hometown.

Andy was a talented carpenter who loved building things with his hands. He found joy in cooking for his family and friends. An avid fisherman, Andy cherished the quiet moments by the water, often accompanied by his grandchildren, whom he adored. His greatest joy was being a "Paw Paw," a role he embraced with all his heart. Andy's warm and outgoing nature meant he never met a stranger. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was one of his most remarkable traits.

As we say goodbye to Andy, we take comfort in the countless memories he has given us, the lives he has touched, and the love he has spread throughout his community. Andy's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and he will be profoundly missed.
