Alford Burch (A.B.) Grimes, Jr.

Alford Burch (A.B.) Grimes, Jr, 91, of Helena, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the VA Medical Center in Dublin.

A.B. was a farmer and had served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Kersey Grimes, parents, Alford Burch and Dora Elizabeth Williams Grimes, his sisters, Evelyn Williams, Maxine Nobles and Emma Selph, son, Tim Grimes and a grandson, Brook Gatlin.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 10, 2016, in the Chapel of Lowe's Funeral Home and interment will follow in the Grimes Family Cemetery. The Rev. Todd Crosby will officiate.

Survivors include his children, Ann Gatlin of Helena, Marion (Jim) Johnson of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Paul (Maude) Grimes of Helena; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., Saturday, December 10 in the chapel, before the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McRae First Baptist Church, Building Fund,26 College Street, McRae Helena, Georgia 31055.
